Three Interacting Wells

These three wells have the same characteristics (depth, width, separation) as the previous two-well sections.

Section 3 Exercises:

  1. Does the relation between the parity and the quantum number n still hold?
  2. How are the levels grouped in this situation?
  3. Compare the energy level of the n=5 level in this section to the n=3 level in Section 1.  Compare the average of the energies of the levels in the middle set (n=4,5,6) to the n=3 level in Section 1.
  4. Using your answers to#2 and #3, make a general statement as to the nature of the grouping and splitting of levels as more equivalent wells are introduced.
