The finite square well in quantum mechanics may at times seem to be an oversimplification of real-life situations.  However, with today's semiconductor technology, substances that exhibit finite square well potentials can be created.  This lab deals with one such system, a semi conducting material consisting of alternating layers of AlGaAs and GaAs.
