The purpose of this lab was to investigate dual photon absorption in Cs vapor atoms.  This was achieved through the use of a heat pipe to isolate and thermally excite the Cs atoms.  The Cesium was excited by a Nd:YAG laser driving a CW dye laser.  By looking at ionization current within the heat pipe we were able to catch an elementary glimpse at dual-photon absorption processes.

    Also, the relationship between the optical power and ion current was investigated as well as the relationship between the temperature of the Cs atoms and the ion current.
