Where do you go when you want to waste time? Well, if you're Tolsma, B, Potter, or Esten, you go to the living room! Most of our apartment's floor space is in this room, and about 90% of the rest of it is in the shower room. Since it gets hot and steamy in there, we tend towards hanging out in the living room.

In classic "college guy" style, our furniture is made up of a bunch of random stuff. The love seat on the left there was recently pillaged from the FIJI house (the fraternity that Potter and Tolsma belong to), that grey couch has been following us around since freshman year (and yes, those ARE the headrests from a 1986 Mercury Sable), The easy-chair and footrest were gathering dust in my parent's attic, and the big-ass blue chair was bestowed upon us by my sister and her husband. That monstrosity in the middle of the room is a Habitat for Humanity purchase that works very well as a gathering place for old newspapers, dirty glasses, and Potter's nuts. (They're in that yellow can. Virginia fancy peanuts, no less!) What is all this prime seating concentrated on?

Why, a wall-o-electronics, of course. My step-dad and I built that entertainment unit sophomore year to hold all the stuff in my room with B, and it has found a new home upside-down in this domicile. The TV's can be used to watch the same source or two different ones. The school-supplied cable seldom has anything good, so we've got our movie stash and the time-vortex Nintendo. If you can't procrastinate playing 007 Goldeneye, you aren't breathing.
We all tend to gather together in front of the TV's for a few special events every week. One such event is Law & Order, one of the most addictive dramas of the '90s. Conveniently, the show is on A&E four times a day, so we can usually get a fix whenever we want. Another call to congregation seems to be forming, the aforementioned Bond game. Around midnight every night, we all seem to end up in the living room watching a video game. Sheep, we're all sheep...
Who's living room isn't complete without a spare computer? That's my old machine, we have it set up to do word processing and crunch away at S.P.S.S. analysis. Plans are in the works to set it up as something network-oriented, but we'll probably just play Bond instead.
