Conclusions
- We observed mode hopping for changes in temperature
and input current.
- We saw differences in the lasing point at different
temperatures
- We found the cavity length l = 0.2868
mm at 50mA and 31 degrees C
- We saw the excitation of Rubidium from the 5s
state to the 5p state at a wavelength of 794.98 nm (Current
= 97 mA, Temperature = 45 C). The expected value was 794.978
nm.
Error
- The index of refraction is dependent on the temperature
of the laser and the composition of the diode. We used an educated
guess for the index of refraction in our measurements.
