This applet allows for users to add standard optic elements (lens, mirror, dielectrics, sources, aperatures) and discover the ways that light rays propagate through the elements. Please refer to the index below to see examples or to play with the applet yourself.

• Basic bench with no elements. Play around with adding elements and seeing what goes on.
• Laser cavity. Demonstration of a stable laser cavity.
• Thick lens. Demonstration of a thick lens. Using matrix transformations, with no spherical aberation.
• Sperical Aberation. Demonstration of spherical aberation that occurs with a thick lens.
• Lens within and without a dielectric of higher index.
• Internal Reflection. Occurs when light is going from higher to lower index at large angles. Uses Snell's Law.
