Measuring Charge Distributions in Dielectrics

As part of a 1989 DEIS Fellowship with Fred Lipshultz and John Tanaka, we studied the pulsed electroacoustic technique developed to measure spatial charge distributions in insulators in the study of high voltage cable failure. We also attempted to develop this technique into an undergraduate experiment by simplifying the original apparatus and signals, A Laboratory For Student Research On Insulators Using The Pulsed Electroacoustic Technique, which appeared in the Annual Report of CEIDP, 334-338 92CH3123-7.
